Jouf Clashes: Tribal Militias Engage Houthi Forces Over Land Dispute

Clashes erupted Tuesday between tribal fighters and Houthi militia patrols in Yemen's Jouf province, resulting in casualties on both sides, following accusations that the militia attempted to seize tribal land.

The confrontations took place in the Al-Jar region after Houthi forces allegedly tried to confiscate a piece of land belonging to the Al-Saran segment of the Al-Kathir-Hamdan tribe. Tribal sources reported that the tribe rejected the militia's actions, leading to armed engagement involving various weaponry.

Tensions remain high in the province, with concerns mounting over potential escalation. Reports suggest the Houthi militia is preparing retaliatory actions against the Hamdan Al-Kathir tribes.

Jouf province has recently witnessed a series of intense clashes between tribal factions and Houthi militants. These incidents, which have led to fatalities and injuries, include confrontations involving the Al-Salem, Dhu Mohammed, Al-Jazilan, Al-Abes, Al-Wahas, and Dhu Hussein tribes. Notably, Houthi leader and tribal sheikh Abu Radwan Khalid bin Hazzal was killed last Thursday.

Various areas within Jouf province periodically experience tribal and security tensions, often stemming from disputes over land and influence. This instability is exacerbated by the ongoing security vacuum in regions controlled by the Houthi militia.
