Three Killed and Dozens Injured in Houthi Attacks on Saudi Airports

The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation has confirmed that Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport were targeted by Houthi militia attacks on October 6 and 7, 2026, resulting in three fatalities and dozens of injuries.

Emergency response teams and relevant authorities were immediately deployed to both locations to manage the aftermath of the incidents in accordance with established safety protocols. The authority reported that the strike on Abha International Airport resulted in the deaths of two female residents, one from Morocco and one from Algeria. Additionally, 28 people sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe, including citizens and residents from Bangladesh and the Philippines.

The assault on King Khalid International Airport resulted in the death of a Sudanese national. Eight other individuals were injured, including five Saudi citizens, two Egyptian residents, and one Pakistani resident. Medical personnel confirmed that the casualties at both sites received immediate care and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

In addition to the human toll, the attacks caused material damage to the facilities at both airports. The Civil Aviation Authority stated that it is currently working in close coordination with security services to assess the full extent of the structural damage and to implement necessary measures to ensure the continued safety of passengers and staff.

Authorities remain committed to maintaining the integrity and security of the Kingdom’s aviation infrastructure. Investigations into the security breaches are ongoing as officials prioritize the restoration of normal operations and the protection of civil aviation systems against further threats.
