General Al-Lahji Urges Families in Houthi-Controlled Areas to Protect Children from Frontlines
Major General Abdulrahman Al-Lahji, Chief of Staff of the Nation Shield Forces, has issued a direct appeal to parents living in Houthi-controlled territories, urging them to prevent their children from being recruited into active combat zones.
In a recorded message, Al-Lahji warned families against allowing the Houthi militia to exploit the vulnerability of Yemeni youth through ideological indoctrination. He emphasized that the militia’s actions are directed against the Yemeni people rather than any external adversaries, asserting that the conflict is fundamentally an internal assault on the nation's future.
Al-Lahji further stated that the youth of Yemen deserve access to education and gainful employment, noting that the country requires their participation in reconstruction and development rather than their sacrifice on the battlefield. He underscored the importance of keeping these young individuals alive and productive for the sake of the nation’s long-term stability.
In addition to his address to the public, Al-Lahji issued formal directives to his forces regarding the humane treatment of prisoners of war. He mandated strict adherence to religious, ethical, and legal standards, ensuring that all military operations and interactions with detainees remain consistent with international humanitarian principles.
