Eight civilians, predominantly children, were killed or injured on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, following a projectile attack launched by Houthi militia forces that struck a residential home in the Al-Athawer village of Haifan District, located in the southern part of Taiz Governorate, Yemen.

Local sources reported that the projectile directly impacted the home of Ali Abdulhaq Al-Athouri. The assault resulted in the deaths of three children—seven-year-old Miri Ali Abdulhaq, twelve-year-old Sama Ali Abdulhaq, and three-year-old Hayan Ali Abdulhaq—as well as 35-year-old Abeer Abduldaem.

The attack also left four other individuals with varying degrees of injury. The wounded have been identified as 20-year-olds Abdo Marwan Abdulhaq and Zaid Raghdah Ali, ten-year-old Alia Ali Abdulhaq, and two-and-a-half-year-old Burhan Methaq Abdulhaq.

This incident is part of an ongoing pattern of Houthi shelling targeting residential neighborhoods and civilian properties across various fronts in Taiz. Such actions continue to exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in the region, causing significant casualties among vulnerable populations and violating international laws and conventions designed to protect civilians during armed conflicts.
